Slim Thug (born Stayve Jerome Thomas on September 8, 1980 is a rapper from Houston, Texas. He gained mainstream attention for his contribution to the popular single from rapper Mike Jones, "Still Tippin". He began his career with Swishahouse in the 1998. In 2000, after only a year and a half of being a artist on Swishahouse, having to split the earnings with a group of artists when you're the biggest star on the label, and after realizing how much money he could make distributing his own mixtapes, he parted ways with Swishahouse on good terms and formed his own independent label, Boss Hogg Outlawz with his brother, Rayface. He then released an album with former friend E.S.G., entitled Boss Hogg Oulawz. It scored a minor hit single with the track "Get Ya Hands Up". He is officially signed to Geffen Records through The Neptunes record label, Star Trak Entertainment.

[edit] Biography
Slim Thug was raised in Scenic Woods, a subdivision bordered by Homestead Road in North Houston. During his latter years in high school, he was already an underground superstar in the Houston hip hop community. He went on to become one of the original members of Swishahouse, which was headed by Michael Watts, who is from Rosewood, which is not far from Scenic Woods.
In 2002, Slim Thug was involved in a beef between himself and defunct Swishahouse artists Big Pic, AD, and Lil Mario. The beef started when Pic & Lil Mario started bootlegging Slim's mixtapes, and were caught, it is believed jealousy played a factor, due to the fact that Slim had a huge following throught out the south and was garnishing a lot of success, while the three struggled with Swishahouse. This led to them dissing Slim on various mixtapes, but without saying his name. Slim Thug retaliated with "Tha Boss", an entire mixtape consisting of 28 which virtually took shots at Big Pic, AD, and includes how the whole the conflic started. In fact, the only artist that Slim Thug never verbally went after was Big Love, proving to be a smart move after having to retreat from a Big Love right cross in front of Selective Sounds. After Big Pic released "World War III" to retaliate against Slim Thug, with help from AD and Lil Mario, Slim Thug released "The End of World War III", to solidify his victory against Big Pic, AD, and Lil Mario.
Slim Thug's debut album, Already Platinum, was released on July 12, 2005. It features the singles "Like a Boss", "Three Kings", "I Ain't Heard Of That", and "Incredible Feeling". The album debuted at #2 on the U.S. Billboard 200 Albums Chart. The album eventually went Gold.
Slim Thug was involved in a beef with Lil' Flip. The beef started when Lil Flip on Z-Ro's "From The South", which featured Paul Wall talked bad about all the Houston rappers that blew up. Slim Thug then released a diss song "Buss the Tech" towards Lil Flip, who claimed that the punch lines he said on "From The South" was actually meant for Paul Wall.
Slim Thug has had some success with his mixtape releases. He has proclaimed himself the "Big Boss of the South", referring to the U.S. south, and the "Big Boss of the North", referring to North Houston, Texas, the neighborhood where he grew up.
He was previously dating Letoya Luckett, former member of Destiny's Child.[1]. They have since ended the relationship, but remain good friends.[2]
In 2005, he also appeared in a remix of the song "Luxurious" by Gwen Stefani, Check On It by Beyoncé, and remix to LeToya Luckett's All Eyes On Me along with Paul Wall and J Bizzle (Jeff Burns).
Slim says that his rap name comes from the fact that as a teenager, he was very tall and lanky before he filled out. He stands 6'6" tall. The Thug part comes from people's assumptions of him due to his braids and sunglasses.
He is also on good terms with most rappers from Houston (with the notable exception of Lil Flip, E.S.G. and other members of the Screwed Up Click), and has found new workmates in the likes of Jay-Z (who was featured on a remix of his song "I Ain't Heard Of That") and rapper 50 cent. Slim Thug was also featured on The Game's "One Blood" remix.
He makes an appearance on LeToya's #1 debut album (July 25 2006) on the track, Hey Fella, And she appears on his album, Already Platinum, on the track "This Is My Life".
Slim Thug is featured in his former girlfriend, LeToya Luckett's video for She Don't.
On August 31, 2006 he won an MTV Music Award for "Best R&B Video" for the song "Check On It" with singer Beyoncé.
