Sloten (Friesland)

Sloten (Frisian: Sleat) received city rights in 1426, and is the smallest of the eleven Frisian cities. It lies within the municipality of Gaasterlân-Sleat. Sloten is the smallest city of the Netherlands en is a popular place for sport on the water(sailing). Sloten is near the Slotermeer in Dutch: het slotermeer. It is a historical city with old buildings and a mill in the middle of the center.
