Sobu Nagareyama Line
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sōbu Nagareyama Line (総武流山線 Sōbu Nagareyama-sen?) is a commuter rail line in Chiba Prefecture operated by Sōbu Nagareyama Electric Railway (総武流山電鉄 Sōbu Nagareyama Dentetsu?), between Mabashi, Matsudo and Nagareyama Station, Nagareyama City. The line or the company is variously abbreviated as Nagareyama Line (流山線 Nagareyama-sen?), Ryūtetsu (流鉄?) or Ryūden (流電?). Among them, "Nagareyama Line" is the most popular name, as it is used in official announcements and signs. This is the only line the company operates, making the company unique for being an independent railway operator with just 5.7 km line, without major subsidiary business (unlike Yamaman or Maihama Resort). The short line functions as a link between Nagareyama City and JR Jōban Line. However, after Tsukuba Express line opened on August 24, 2005, the ridership of Nagareyama Line fell sharply. It is undetermined whether the line will participate the future integration of Suica and PASMO smart cards or not.
