User:Solar/2003 invasions of Iraq

I am against the 2003 invasion of Iraq; I believe this war is simply an action put in motion in 2001 for political and financial reasons. [1]. I will stand by this belief until solid evidence promised by both the US and UK is presented. In fact most if not all evidence shows that Iraq was not involved in the attacks allegedly undertaken by Al Qaeda [2] on September 11th 2001. And that the claim made by the US and UK governments of weapons of mass destruction (a term used to differentiate foreign weapons from those used by the US, when in fact they are equally destructive to human life and often the same), was at worst a criminal deceit and at best seriously misguided. Judging by the present US New American Century agenda which included regime change in Iraq as early as 2000 [3] I find it very difficult to believe many statements delivered by these manipulative US/UK governments. On top of this I feel it is very likely that much of what took place post September 11th 2001 was a process of making events as well as inconclusive and imcomplete evidence fit to justify war. [4] [5] The war was still in breach of international law after months of trying to make evidence fit to justify it, as Kofi Annan indicated, "from the charter point of view, it (the Iraq war) was illegal." [6]
I think Doug Giebel sums it up with the following:
If you support the "war" in Iraq:
(a) excepting yourself, choose five people from your immediate family and/or from among your best friends whom you would be willing to "sacrifice" (i.e., kill) in order to depose Saddam Hussein;
(b) tell them personally of your decision. [7]
Also if you supported the war why not see the documentary Control Room, it offers another perspective to that of the US and UK.
My views are not limited to Britain and America, essentially I oppose any system or person who believes themselves to have greater value than any other person or system. The People's Republic of China's extreme use of the death penalty and their abuse of freedoms and human rights also greatly concerns me, for example. The countries and people mentioned above are by no means a complete list they are just an introduction to my values.
