South San Francisco High School is an American public high school located in South San Francisco, California which serves grades 9-12 as part of the South San Francisco Unified School District (SSFUSD). The school is often colloquially referred to as "South City High".

South San Francisco High School is composed of four main class buildings, forming campus wings. Two additional wings contain portable classrooms for language and math classes. The "S" wing contains the woods, auto, ceramics, and art shops. The auditorium is located to the right of the main entrance with the cafeteria next to it. The "M" wing contains the broadcasting station and the band room.
South San Francisco High School operates as a closed campus [1] prohibiting leaving the campus for lunch or meeting visitors during school hours. The district offices for the SSFUSD are located on the school campus at the main entrance.

South San Francisco High School has won most of the season closing "Bell Game" with rival El Camino High School. In 2006 South City won the Bell Game with a final score of 28-14. South City has won the Glove Game, and the Hoop game in the school year of 2005-2006 (Both games against El Camino). In the 2004-2005, the junior varsity football team went undefeated and the varsity football team went 8-2.[citation needed]
South San Francisco High School football program has retired four jerseys. David Hanson (running back, CSM & Sonoma State University) in 1989 and Mike Johnston (wide receiver, BYU) in 1990 had their numbers retired in recognition of their outstanding careers. Hanson and Johnston both helped South San Franciso win its last section title versus Carlmont High School and finish undefeated (11-0) in 1989.[citation needed]
In Soccer the school defeated El Camino High School for the rivalry trophy in 2007.[citation needed]

South San Francisco High School has a marching band, concert band, symphonic band, jazz band, winterguard, colorguard, percussion ensemble, choir, and a pep band. In 2006, the marching band changed from being a parade show to a field show.
