Stefan Klos (born August 16, 1971 in Dortmund) is a German goalkeeper who currently plays for Glasgow Rangers. He played for Borussia Dortmund from 1991, until he moved to Glasgow on Christmas Eve 1998.
Klos won the UEFA Champions League with Dortmund in 1997, but has never been capped at full international level for Germany.
He was made Rangers' new captain in July 2004.
The German custodian picked up knee ligament damage in training in January 2005[1] and missed the remainder of the double winning campaign and was replaced by Ronald Waterreus.[2]
Waterreus kept his place for the start of the 2005/06 season, despite Klos regaining full fitness. The Rangers fans affectionately nickname him "Der Goalie", a play on the nickname of Andy Goram, who was known as "The Goalie".
Klos looked set to challenge new signing Lionel Letizi for the number one slot after Paul Le Guen's arrival at the start of the 2006-07 season but he suffered a biking injury which gave long-term third choice Allan McGregor the chance to impress. In October 2006, Klos returned to fitness and played a reserve match against Aberdeen.[3] Klos made his first appearance of the season for the first team against Osasuna in the UEFA Cup on the 22nd of Februrary after Alan McGregor was sent off.
