[edit] Y0u
I replied to your comment on my talk page... just putting this here so you'll see you have new messages mostly, feel free to delete it (it's your talk page, after all.) Y0u 02:23, Mar 13, 2005 (UTC)
- Also, thank you for helping find a semi-permanent place to post the "Compleat History of the World."... where I don't have to worry about user:sandbot. Y0u 02:53, Mar 13, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Banda, Ghana
Hi. The "Banda, Ghana" article needs to be more than "Banda is a town in Ghana." You might want to sneak a peek at the Wikipedia:Manual of style to learn more. Also, please feel free to leave word on my talk page if I can be of help. Best, Lucky 6.9 03:55, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Hi, again :^)
Single-sentence articles with little more than an echo of the title are usually speedy deletion candidates. However, please feel welcome to expand the article to include some basic information, such as landmarks, history, population and such. Just because it's tagged as a speedy doesn't mean you can't expand it. Also, even if it is speedied, you're welcome to write an expanded replacement article under the same title. Gotta run... - Lucky 6.9 04:25, 21 Mar 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Re: How did you spot vandalism so quickly?
Oh, I'm rather slow tonight actually; too many distractions. To answer your question, I use no software. It helps to exclude logged-in users from a Special:Recentchanges query, as it's only rarely that someone who bothers to create an account will vandalise (but it does happen, so periodic checks are necessary). I'm also an administrator, so I can revert bad edits fairly quickly via a rollback link on the diff page itself. -- Hadal 04:48, 23 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] April Fools
Regarding your comment on my page, I did stop but I disagree with your warning - it is not an offensive word. Yazman 09:36, 1 Apr 2005 (UTC)Yazman
[edit] It was just april fool's day
I add 'useful stuff' to wikipedia all the time, I didn't think messing with an april fool's article would have gotten mods pissed off, especially considering there was a lot of actually offensive material in other april fool's articles.
[edit] Oakland Maps
Again, thanks for the fascinating statistical look at Oakland. I look forward to figuring out how to use Factfinder myself. --Andy M. 00:39, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I appreciate the tutorial on Factfinder. I wonder if someone could write a bot that would automatically generate thematic maps for all Wikipedia cities... --Andy M. 21:49, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Images in Ancestries of Americans
I'm on a copyvio kick, so I'm checking out the images you uploaded at Ancestries of Americans. Did you create them? If so, what kind of mapping software is that... doesn't look like MS MapPoint. Feco 06:47, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, please list the sources for the data and the map image files themselves. Also, why is there no data on those who listed themselves as African Americans? I imagine that they're more individuals of African ancestry in the U.S. than say, Slovak ancestry, which is listed (and should be listed!). Anyway, if souces are cited, copyrights are respected and a bit about AFrican Americans is added, I'd say that we have a little gem of an article, a fine edition to Wikipedia. --Zantastik 07:35, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Maps
Hey, I just noticed the maps of various California cities that you did. It's a really nifty idea; thanks for doing them! I was curious and took a look in detail and I began to wonder if the Census site had provided a legend that explained what the various colors mean in quantitative fashion? Otherwise, I'm a little unclear as to what they are actually showing. Thanks! -- Beland 07:33, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Clearing floats
I noticed you were using ten <br>s to clear the floats on some of your demographic maps articles. However, that's sometimes not enough. By contrast, a single <br clear="all"> is always enough, independent of the font size. I also noticed you didn't try to clear them sometimes (perhaps because it didn't break in your computer). I would recommend always clearing the floats before a new section.
I fixed all the articles on Category:Demographic maps to properly clear the floats.

[edit] Adsense Links
Why do you think those those links on the Adsense page aren't stupid? have you even looked at them. seriously, this, http://emailuniverse.com/adsense-secrets/ty.html, is spam. --Geedubber 05:23, 18 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] How does a person report vandalism?
- Stevey7788, I read that your page was vandalized almost as soon as you arrived here -- I experienced the same thing with an article I was working on. I looked up in wikipedia what this person did, and it is called "sneaky valdalism" as opposed to "vandalism." I would like to report it on the "WPVIP" page because the logged in person doing it, "JEZ," has now gone on a campaign slandering and harassing me, after I reported my allegation to an admin, who then restored the text deleted by "JEZ" (Admin Matani2005). Also, I am really upset that this person, JEZ, is harassing me solely because he did not like the subject I was writing about (JEB BUSH). Is there any way I can request he be banned? I was going to let this matter go, but I don't want to keep writing and editing anything if I have to be harassed by him or someone acting on his behalf, due to his political leanings. Thanks, SummerFR 16:13, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
PS I am writing you here because the link you gave on the VIP page does not seem to go there on my computer. Is there a URL you can give me?
- Stevey, thank you very much for your message to me. I also posted my complaint about that user on the Administrators' Noticeboard but I don't know if they will do anything or not. I would appreciate anything you can do. Thanks again. SummerFR 04:47, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- That was really interesting what you wrote in your last note to me on my talk page - re JEZ being a repeat vandal. I did finally see his "User Contributions" and I saw "vandal" or something like that written on many entries. Is that what this meant? I really don't know enough to feel comfortable saying he is a long term vandal, and he has only been here two months. But, I do now believe his intent was to be a "sneaky vandal" as that term is defined by wiki, on the JEB BUSH article, in part because of the way he refused to ever discuss anything with me. He seems to have his modus operation/intimidation tactics down pat. SummerFR 14:44, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- FFS, you saw "vandal or something like that" on many of my contributions because I WAS REVERTING VANDALISM. Take a look at the page histories/comparisons if you don't believe me. I've never vandalised anything. Jez 00:05, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Well, I looked at your contributions and I didn't find vandalism, although some of the comments were slightly rude. The admins and many of the respected Wikipedians say you're vandalizing, but I didn't see you do that. I'm totally confused. I'm not going to be in the Jez v. SummerFR case. — Stevey7788 (talk) 03:11, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Hilary Duff
Doing RC Patrol, I find it very amusing to watch you create all these redirects to Hilary Duff... Zzyzx11 | Talk 06:41, 26 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Marking articles VfD
I came across an article that you had marked VfD. When you do so, make sure you follow the full VfD process (detailed instructions are at the bottom of WP:VFD). Feco 06:30, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Misspelyng redirects
I encourage you to rethink your habit of redirect misspellings. When a user misspells a word but the article comes up anyway they will never know they spelled it wrong in the first place. Spelling suggestion will eventually be added to the MediaWiki software but we shouldn't make a mess of the database now. A spell checker won't work very well when every misspelling corresponds to an actual article. —TeknicTalk / Mail 08:47, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] PelicanShit username
I redundantly reblocked it today, but in fact it was originally blocked indefinitely back on March 29 by User:Neutrality. I added an explanatory message at User talk:PelicanShit even though I don't think anybody's home to read it. -- Curps 07:12, 3 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Redirect and IP Addresses
Thanks for for telling me how to redirect. I had no idea ppl can message ip addresses and that my ip address is my user name. I wonder about multiple ip addresses. I mean I'm using a router right now and that's my router's address. If two ppl use the same router, then won't wikipedia think they are the same person? 129.21.108.43 04:46, 5 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] High Fructose Corn syrup
Was wondering why you removed the word sugar from my short definition of HFCS. (I just showed up as an IP.)
[edit] Edit summary
Hello, I was going through your contributions and noticed that you don't often add an edit summary. I would like to encourage you to always add a summary as it makes other editors' lives easier. -- FP <talk><edits> 06:44, May 12, 2005 (UTC)
- I just noticed the same, and would like to second the request for an edit summary. They help me out a lot. Thanks for your contributions anyway though. - Taxman 14:32, May 12, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Sandbox award
I, FP, in my official capacity as nobody-in-particular, hereby bestow upon you, Stevey7788, the mighty and presigious Atlas Award for your dedicated and ongoing work to ensure that one of Wikipedia's most visible pages — the Sandbox — is sanitary, inoffensive, tidy and welcoming to new Wikipedians.
"The Atlas Award For Raking the Sandbox Clean may be awarded to those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in fishing disgusting and unwanted items from the Wikipedia sandbox. The Atlas award is named after Charles Atlas and is taken from his 'they kicked sand in my face' advertisement, and is in no way merely a masculine image. It is a symbol of self-empowerment. Charles Atlas was once a self-styled 98-pound weakling, and through his own diligence and effort, became a very succesful businessman and body builder. And his business empire began with the ad that this image is from."
Well done. -- FP <talk><edits> 06:44, May 12, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Sandbox copy/pasting
All right. You don't have to rake them all up, though. The Sandbot does that every 12 hours. → JarlaxleArtemis 00:28, May 13, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Note about Sandbot's 12 hour cleaning schedule
Sandbot's original cleaning time was 6 hours apart. However, Wikipedian231, suggested that the Sandbot clean out the sandbox less infrequent to allow more changes to appear in the Sandbox. If you think the Sandbot needs to step up its sweeping schedule, please let me know and ask for Wikipedia231's opinions about it. -- AllyUnion (talk) 02:10, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
A note to say I recieved your messages. I just didnt know how to respond. I do my best communicating in the sandbox.Fonzie Fan 28 May 2005

[edit] Replacing Novation
Hi, since you've worked on the Novation article, I wanted to let you know that I plan to move it to Novation Electronic Music Systems, to make way for an article on the longstanding legal term discussing the substitution of obligations or parties. Cheers. -- BD2412 talk 01:53, 2005 Jun 11 (UTC)

[edit] Duplicate Massina
Hey Stevey,
I noticed that I accidentally created a duplicate article to your Macina Empire today. Sorry about that--my source had a different spelling, but I should have checked the Malian articles better. What's more confusing is that I seem to have different info from you in Basil Davidson--though my entry is sparse and I may well have misread. Feel free to hack away whatever you need to from mine.
Anyway, I'm happy to bump into somebody else working on a Mali article! Are you hitting them regularly or is this an exception?
A pleasure, --Dvyost 5 July 2005 23:43 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back to me. I finally got around to merging the articles today. Take care! --Dvyost 7 July 2005 16:34 (UTC)
[edit] Possible admin nomination
Hello, I just wanted to run this by you before I actually did it- what would you think of me nominating you for administrator? You (Talk) July 6, 2005 14:24 (UTC)
- I feel that you can certainly be trusted with the proverbial mop and bucket, and therefore feel that you would make a good admin. You could act as an admin only when you were comfortable doing so, and otherwise act as a regular user; simply put, you having admin powers would be in the best interest of Wikipedia even though there is hardly a pressing need for more admins (in other words, there's no huge gap at the moment that needs someone to fill it.) I think being an admin is, for any user who does not misuse the admin tools, only as much of a responsibility as they want it to be (admin work is, of course, on a strictly volunteer basis and you could use the admin tools only rarely if you so chose and other times act like a regular user.) Anyway, that's exactly why I wanted to nominate you. Anyway, I will not nominate you now (unless you wish for me to) since you said to think about it some and I just got your message. You (Talk) July 6, 2005 21:17 (UTC)
[edit] Node (Quantum mechanics)
What do you mean the space between atomic orbitals? There is no space, and even if there was, it wouldn't be called a node. Unless you know something I don't know, that is. Give me one reason why I shouldn't list that page on VFD. -- Tim Starling July 7, 2005 06:37 (UTC)
