Strafidlo, full name Samuel Trafidlo, has been a member of Wikipedia since February of 2006. Sam's initial discovery of Wikipedia was by accident. While rushing to finish a high school science project, the search term "submarine" was entered into Google. The results came back, with Wikipedia being the first website offered. While trying to find the correct way of citing the article about submarines, Sam came across the explanation of what Wikipedia is. In the end, the last minute attempt to finish the project was discovered by the teacher, although a mental note of the website was made. Before his discovery of this free encyclopedia, Sam's past research for projects involved using Google, but for the most part, always using different results. However, this website offered a central location for information on a number of different subjects, plus it is the only encyclopedia to offer the chance for anyone to edit the articles.
Sam continued to use Wikipedia for research and even started to edit a few articles. Past knowledge of HTML and creating webpages was useful in learning how to add and edit articles. Then, the decision was made to become a member of this site. As a TV fanatic, the first contributions were made to TV stations around Sam's home in Boston, Massachusetts along with others around the USA where his relatives live. (See the list below for some of the TV station pages that Sam has contributed to.) Adding pictures to this website took some time to learn as helpful reminders of how to correctly upload them were added by other editors. Reminders of how to edit articles and other rules were added by editors as well. These suggestions were taken seriously, as Sam continues to become a better editor. Remarks on contributions have been and continue to be greatly appreciated by him.
While most of his contributions have revolved around known TV networks and stations, Sam will look into many other subject areas in order to add useful information in other articles. His hope is to stay at Wikipedia as long as he can, as he enjoys contributing to this great and informative website. Sam thinks that whoever came up with the idea to create an encyclopedia that anyone can edit is one of best ideas he has ever heard of.
