Sylvain Legwinski (born June 10, 1973 in Clermont-Ferrand) is a footballer playing for Ipswich Town in the Championship. A member of the French team at the 1996 Summer Olympics, he is a defensive midfield player who can also play in a more attacking role on occasion.
He was amusingly given the nickname "Monica" by Fulham fans, a pun on the name of Monica Lewinsky, who is famous for having a relationship with former U.S. president Bill Clinton. Legwinski was popular at Fulham for his passion, work rate and custom of walking around the stadium after games to applaud the fans.
At the beginning of the 2006/07 season Chris Coleman made it clear that he did not fit into Fulham's future plans and in August 2006, following a successful trial with Ipswich, he signed a two-year contract.
He won the accolade of Town fans with the equaliser in the 3-1 win over rivals Norwich City. He also scored in the Derby against Colchester United. This led the crowd to chant "Legwinski, whoowhoo, Legwinski, whoowhoo, he scored against the scum, he'll score another one"
