History of Taiwan

Taiwan (include the Pescadores) was first populated by native Taiwanese people. Then in 17 century. Dutch first landed southern Taiwan and ruled it, then Spain landed the northern Taiwan. In 1642, Dutch rousted Spain out and ruled the whole Taiwan. 1644, Qing Dynasty had just started ruling the mainland China, Ming Dynasty's courtier, Koxinga (Traditional Chinese: 國姓爺; Hanyu Pinyin: Gúoxìngyé; Tongyong Pinyin: Gúosìngyé; Taiwanese: Kok-sèng-iâ/Kok-sìⁿ-iâ)(His real name is Zheng Chenggong (Traditional Chinese: 鄭成功; Hanyu Pinyin: Zhèng Chénggōng; Tongyong Pinyin: Jhèng Chénggong; Wade-Giles: Cheng Ch'eng-kung; Pe̍h-oē-jī: Tēⁿ Sêng-kong) landed Taiwan, rousted Dutch out, and ruled Taiwan to made it become a place to resisted the Qing Dynasty. We call it "the period of Ming Zheng"(Traditional Chinese:明鄭時期), or the Kingdom of Tungning(Traditional Chinese:東寧王國), the Kingdom of Yanping(Traditional Chinese:延平王國)21 years later, the Qing Dynasty ends the Kindom of Tungning. Qing Dynasty ruled Taiwan for 212 years. Qing Dynasty losed the First Sino-Japanese War and gave Japan the whole Taiwan. Taiwanese people had shortly found the Republic of Formosa(Traditional Chinese:台灣民主國) for only about a year. In 1945, the Republic of China won the Second Sino-Japanese War and get Taiwan back. Until now, Taiwan is still rule by the Republic of China.

Taiwan has appeared in Chinese history from the three kingdoms. Some scholastic said that the "Yeechou"(Traditional Chinese:夷州) that Sun Quan(Traditional Chinese:孫權; Simplified Chinese: 孙权; the first emperor of the Kingdom of Wu, one kingdom of the three kingdoms.) want to get was actually Taiwan.

From about 50000 years ago, it was "Old Stone Age" in Taiwan. At that time, people used stone to hit another rock to make things. The most famous culture of Taiwanese old stone age is Changping Culture(Traditional Chinese:長濱文化). Changping Culture's monument is the Eight Gods' Hole Monument(Traditional Chinese:八仙洞遺址) in Taitung Conty.

About 5000 years ago, Taiwan went into the "New Stone Age". People in New Stone Age sharpen stones to make things. We can take New Stone Age into three parts. The most famous culture of the first part is the Tapenken Culture(Traditional Chinese:大坌坑文化), its monument is the Tapenken Monument(Traditional Chinese:大坌坑遺址, also known ad T.P.K.) in Taipei. And the most famous culture of the second part is the Beinan Culture(Traditional Chinese:卑南文化), its monument is the Puyuma Relics(Traditional Chinese:卑南遺址) in Taitung Conty. The most famous culture in the third part is the Yuanshan Culture(Traditional Chinese:圓山文化), and its monument is the Yuanshan Monument(Traditional Chinese:圓山遺址) in Taipei City.

About 2000 years ago, Taiwan went into "Metal Age", in Metal Age, people used metal to make things, and changes things with the foreigners. The most famous culture in Metal Age is the Thirteen Hangs Cultures(Traditional Chinese:十三行文化, Hang is store in Qing Dynasty)), and its monument is the Thirteen Hangs Monument (Traditional Chinese:十三行遺址) in Taipei Conty.
