Kim Il-Sung

Kim Il-Sung (Kim Il Sŏng;김일성;金日成) was the leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) from the time it was formed until his death in 1994. North Koreans still consider him the 'Eternal Leader'. He was the creator of the Juche idea. He ran North Korea in a way distnct from the Soviet Union and China. His son Kim Jŏng-Il is the current leader of North Korea.
