Rickets
From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Rickets is a disease in young children. It is caused by lack of vitamin D and calcium. Rickets causes bigger gaps inside bones and turns them dry and spongy.Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin that is found in food and can also be made in your body after exposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun. Sunshine is a significant source of vitamin D because UV rays from sunlight trigger vitamin D synthesis in the skin
The word "rickets" comes from the Greek word "rhakhis," which means "spine".
