Transliteration
From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Transliteration is a type of change in systems of writing or alphabets in which the biggest concern is for the individual letters or tokens to stay the same. There are different systems of writing in the world. Some use tokens (or letters) that stand for different sounds, others use them to stand for different things. Transliteration is what happens when a mapping is created between the different systems of writing. Most often this is done by spelling the sounds of one system, with the letters or tokens of another.
