Mehrdud Takalobigashi (more commonly known as Takaloo, Mehrdud Takaloo or Tak) is an Iranian born, English professional boxer.[1]

Takaloo's was born in 1975 in Tehran, Iran. His family later fled the counrty in the late 1970's after the overthrow of the Shah. His family arrived in the south of England and he is now based in Margate, Kent.
[edit] Professional career
Takaloo boxed from an early age winning a number of amateur titles. In 1997, he became a professional professional boxer but initially had little success losing two of his first seven bouts.
At this time he changed trainers and joined Jim McDonnell's gym in London.
His highest profile fight thus far in his career came in August 2005 when he faced Daniel Santos at Cardiff Castle, Cardiff, Wales when he fought for the WBO and WBU Light Middleweight Title. Takaloo lost this fight on points over tweleve rounds.
Takaloo is the current WBU welterweight champion having won the vacant title againt Turgay Uzun in February 2006 at the ExCeL Arena at London's Docklands.

Takaloo fought for a number of years to obtain a British passport and was finally grant one in 2006.
