Tamao Mitsurugi is a fictional character from Variable Geo fighting game series. She's one of the funniest character in the series and admires Yuka Takeuchi imitating various of her moves. Also is one of the charmer characters of the series.

A first-time participant in Variable Geo. She's catching the most attention during this tournament due to the fact that she's the youngest V.G. competitor ever. She moves before she thinks, making her a bit of a spirited, clutzy person; perhaps it is because of this reason that people tend to like her. Last year, after seeing Yuka in action, she decided to take on fighting (karate) with all the yearning in her heart; now she has taken several techniques in Yuka's style. - Kikoudan - Tamao shoots a energy-ball out of her hand. Imitation of Yuka's Kikoudan, Tamao's version is shorter than Yuka and doesn't travel full-screen.
- Souryuugeki - Tamao performs a jumping uppercut. Another move imitated from Yuka's.
- Kuusenkyaku - Tamao jump-kicks her opponent, the "strong" variant does 3 revolutions.
- Pokopoko Midareuchi - Tamao jumps up onto her standing opponent's shoulders, and rapidly punches at her head.
- A~ndo Punch - After performing the Pokopoko Midareuchi, Tamao jumps down and rushes forward with a straight punch to her opponent.
- A~ndo Kick - After performing the Pokopoko Midareuchi, Tamao brings her legs back and kicks her opponent in the head.
- Lightning Crash - Tamao brings her arms back and fires a large, green beam of energy to her opponent. Her maximum super and the only she has in the games.

- Tamao is known as the "wannabe" of the series, only comparable with Sakura Kasugano from Street Fighter series or Shingo Yabuki from The King of Fighters series.
- Also, Tamao replaces Ayako Yuuki as the new joke character of the series, since her first appearance in V.G. Max.
- Some of Tamao's moves resembles Dan Hibiki from Street Fighter series, especially her Kikoudan and Kuusenkyaku that work like Dan's Gadouken and Dankuukyaku, respectively.
- Tamao is one of the few known characters of the series who doesn't appear in the V.G. OVA.
- Her close relationship with Yuka has been connoted even as shoujo-ai in various official artworks, fanarts and fanfics. In various of them, they are a couple.
