The Bog of Eternal Stench
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bog of Eternal Stench is part of the scenery from the fantasy film Labyrinth. It not only smells bad, but will taint anything it touches. It is said that dipping a tiny part of your body in the bog will result in your body smelling bad for the rest of your life. It won't wash off - hence 'eternal stench'. Hinting at the smell, the bog bubbles and pops with the gassy sounds of flatulence.
Sir Didymus and his English sheepdog steed, Ambrocious are the main bog inhabitants along with some frogs and flies. Perhaps because he is there all the time, Sir Didymus' nose seems numb to the bog's pungency. Sir Didymus has sworn a solemn oath with his lifeblood to let no one cross the bridge leading from the bog, without his permission.
Jareth, the Goblin King, played by David Bowie, threatens to dip Hoggle in the bog if he doesn't obey him. Jareth later tells him that if Sarah kisses Hoggle he will make him a prince: "Prince of the Land of Stench!"
