The Bourne Identity is a 1988 television-movie adaptation of Robert Ludlum's bestseller books The Bourne Identity (1980) and The Bourne Supremacy (1986).
The film follows the storyline of the first two novels, which caused it to have a rather long run-time (3 hours 5 min).
In 2002, a Hollywood version of The Bourne Identity was released, and the sequel The Bourne Supremacy was released in 2004. Both films were based upon the two Ludlum books, yet they were only loosely based upon the original source novels. Since each film follows the storyline of a single book, their length was more cinema-acceptable.
