The Michael Jackson Company, Inc. is a record label and company founded by pop icon Michael Jackson on June 27, 2006. Michael Jackson’s Spokesperson Raymone Bain is General Manager of the new entity. It will replace the now defunct MJJ Productions.
The newly formed company is set in the restructuring of Jackson's personal and business affairs. He has hired New York based L. Londell McMillan and The McMillan Firm, known for business restructuring and turnarounds, to oversee legal matters involving his business affairs.
The Michael Jackson Company, Inc. is the "new" MJJ Productions, Inc. Mr. Jackson will record albums (one to be released in 2007), write songs and produce songs for the company. Jackson's main producer, will.i.am has stated that he wants Jackson to release his next album online through social websites like Myspace and not through a label distributor. Though Jackson could release his album through online stores such as Amazon.com, iTunes, Borders Group website, www.borders.com, and others, that would damage potential sales. People in some countries would not be able to buy the album online, as they would be able to in a store. Jackson could sign an exclusive distribution contract with a major retail store to put his album in that store only such as Wal-Mart, Target Corporation, Best Buy or HMV.
The company will also be responsible for overseeing finances of a possible world tour.
At the beginning of March 2007 an art competition started. Where it was stated that the three winners will have their work advetised and put on the soon to be made website, which will be run by the Michael Jackson Company.
