The Reader (magazine)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Reader is a literary magazine published quarterly by the University of Liverpool's School of English since spring 1997. It is currently edited by Jane Davis. As well as the magazine, the organisation promotes live literature events, as well as outreach and educational projects such as Get Into Reading - community-based reading groups in seventeen locations.
The content of each issue - original poetry and short fiction, essays, interviews and recommendations - is based loosely around a given theme, with letters, a crossword and the famously tricky 'Buck's Quiz' making up the last section. Notable contributors have included Seamus Heaney, Will Self, Graham Swift, John Kinsella, Les Murray, John Carey, Bel Mooney and Jonathan Bate.
