The Silence in Black And White is the first album of band Hawthorne Heights, released in 2004 under the label Victory Records. On Monday, June 27, 2005 the 2 disc special edition CD/DVD was released. The CD contains demo, acoustic versions of most of the songs, a DVD containing live concerts, documentary footage and many other bonus features. It was produced by Sean O'Keefe (producer). According to Eron Bucciarelli, the song "The Transition" was the first song Hawthorne Heights made as a new band from when their old band, A Day in the Life, broke up. The album takes it's title from a line in the song Niki FM.
