The Tainting of the Screw is the very first episode of the Nickelodeon series Kenan & Kel.
[edit] Storyline
After the opening credits, the episode begins with Kenan coming onstage alone and introducing himself. One of the audience members openly asks "Where is Kel?" to which the rest of the audience agrees with Kenan replying that Kel should know what time the show starts when suddenly Kenan is poked by the tip of a fishing rod coming from behind the curtains, pulling on it reveals Kel in a fisherman's getup and he simply explains he was catching fish and apologizes for being late. Kenan reaches into the bucket Kel is holding and pulls out a tuna. Before Kel can explain about what the episode is about, Kenan smiles at Kel's tuna, when Kel asks why Kenan simply walks offstage, saying he had to go, making Kel feel uncomfortable, then exclaiming his catchphrase "Aww here it goes!" before following him.
The scene changes to the Rockmore's kitchen when Kel barges in from the back door and interrupts a peaceful morning for Kenan's parents and causes his father, Roger, to spill his hot coffee on himself. Kenan joins, his parents and Kel downstairs and when his mom, Sheryl, asks what they plan on doing that day, the two friends excitedly reply that they plan on watching the Chicago Bulls basketball game. That's when Sheryl tells Roger they will be late for taking Kenan's Aunt Bertha to the doctor, Roger explaining that "She's all puffy." Sheryl tells Kenan that if he gets hungry there is a can of tuna fish for him. Kenan makes himself a tunafish sandwich then checks to see if the game is on, seeing that it is, he asks Kel to bring his sandwich in. Just as he begins eating he begins choking, Kel saves Kenan by performing the Heimlich maneuver and discover that he was choking on a screw.
After finding out a woman sued a restaurant after finding out there was half a frog in her fried chicken, he contemplates suing the fish store that the can of tunafish came from, Luna Tuna. Kenan gets the word out to the press about choking on the screw. Later Kenan receives a phone call from the President of the Luna Tuna Corporation, Henry Luna, and he and Kel attend a meeting with him to compensate for the screw. Henry offers Kenan a grand total of 1 million dollars and a lifetime supply of Luna Tuna, but Kenan refuses and brings the lawsuit to court.
Kenan and Kel prepare to come before the court. The next day, the two go to court, but when Kenan calls Kel to the stand to be question, Kel breaks under pressure and confesses that he was the one who had (accidentally) dropped the screw in his tunafish sandwich.
At the end of the episode, Kenan and Kel come onstage, Kenan tells the audience of his plan to find a can of Luna Tuna tunafish containing an object that should not be in it, he then goes over to Kel who is sitting nearby and is proven to have been opening a lot of cans with a large pile of empty cans on one side and a huge mound of tunafish on his other side. Kenan then tells Kel to forget about the tunafish then walks offstage, again without saying anything. Kel calls after him, then once again exclaims his catchphrase: "Aww here it goes!" then follows him offstage.
