"Thirty Dirty Birds" is a song by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and the thirteenth track off of their second album, 1985's Freaky Styley.
The song is a cryptic, rhyming, limerick-styled tale of the eponymous thirty dirty birds, "sung" in a Brooklyn accent, most prominently in "r-lessness" of the words (non-rhoticity). The song is a short 14-second spoken word piece representative of the early Chili Pepper's offbeat sense of humor.
During concerts in the mid-1980s, the song was often performed by both vocalist Anthony Kiedis and guitarist Hillel Slovak.
Lead singer Anthony Kiedis says that "this is the best song [he] ever wrote" in a recent interview with Nickelodeon Magazine.
