1979: Bauhaus
The article said something to the effect of "Bauhaus's single 'Bela Lugosi's Dead' brought gothic rock to the US; Joy Division, the Cure, and Siouxsie and the Banshees moved punk in a similar direction in the UK."
Bauhaus is an English band, contemporary and countrymen of the other bands. They are not Americans, and "Bela Lugosi's Dead" did not bring gothic rock to the US.

Given that there are sub-sections for each country, maybe the reference to the five bands from Australia mentioned in the Overview has just a bit too much top spin on it when compared to other name groups included or excluded. I have no idea as to where to draw the line on which groups to include - in the Overview - but that's what this talk page is all about. I think a little less personal taste, more self-restraint and more object criteria are needed to ensure credibility. Australia, 1978, Dragon. New Zealand is not a part of Australia - (there are fewer convicts, plants have learnt to grow without catching fire, the sheep are less nervous, and they can't play cricket :-). Winstonwolfe 03:52, 15 January 2007 (UTC)
