Tom Bailey (Thompson Twins)

Tom Bailey (born January 18, 1954 in Halifax, Yorkshire, England) was the leader of the British band Thompson Twins. He grew up in a family associated with the medical profession, and despite training as a classical pianist, initially worked as an English teacher. In his late teens and early 20s he travelled the world. He was shot at in the Khyber Pass and nearly died from illness in India. He founded the group in 1977 with two friends living in Chesterfield. He and bandmate Alannah Currie later formed the group Babble releasing two albums through Reprise Records, had two children named Jackson and Indigo. They divorced in 2004. Bailey currently produces the New Zealand band Stellar, where in 1999 he won Record Producer of the Year for their debut album Mix and is the figurehead for the dub project International Observer.
