The word tone is used in several different fields with different meanings.
Tone may refer to:
In music:
- Pitch (music), the perceived frequency of a note or sound (see also pure tone)
- Note, the name of a pitch, or the graphic representation of that pitch in a notation system, and sometimes its note value
- Whole tone, or major second, a commonly occurring musical interval, that is, a relationship between two notes or pitches (cf. semitone)
- Rubrics Tone, one of eight musical scores used in Eastern Orthodox services.
- Timbre, the quality of a musical note or sound

Tone can also be referred to as the tone in a poem or story. Some examples are happy, joyful, mysterios, and sad.
