David Trent Johnston (born 29 April 1974 in Wollongong, New South Wales) is an Australian-born Ireland cricketer. He played briefly for New South Wales in the 1998-99 and 1999-2000 Australian domestic seasons, but since 2004 has appeared for Ireland in the C&G Trophy, ICC Trophy and captained the side to victory at the 2005 ICC Intercontinental Cup. Johnston arrived in Ireland in 1995, and has appeared in the colours of Carlisle Cricket Club, Leinster and Clontarf (his current team.) Away from cricket, Johnston works as a logistics manager for a clothing company owned by U2 singer Bono and his wife Ali Hewson.
On 13 June 2006 he made his One-Day International debut in Ireland's first ever ODI, captaining the side against England at Stormont, Belfast.
He also captained the Irish side in the 2007 Cricket World Cup when they tied with Zimbabwe and won against Pakistan.
