Tye Tribbett

Tye Tribbett is an American gospel music singer, songwriter, keyboardist, choir director from Camden, New Jersey. He is the founder of the Grammy-nominated gospel group Tye Tribbett & G.A. (short for "Greater Anointing").

Tye Tribbett & G.A. have collaborated with a variety of notable artists, including Vivian Green, Faith Hill, Bubba Sparxx, Don Henley, Mary Mary, Justin Timberlake and Sting.

Tye Tribbett & G.A. first appeared on the high-profile DreamWorks motion picture soundtrack for The Prince of Egypt (see contemporary gospel-centric soundtrack The Prince of Egypt (Inspirational)) as Tyrone Tribbett and Greater Anointing. Their song "Let Go, Let God" was performed with the then-unknown gospel duo Mary Mary.

In 2000, Country music superstar Faith Hill was attracted by the Camden, N.J ensemble and took Tye Tribbett & G.A. on the road . Major R&B, Hip-Hop, and Gospel musical forces like Usher, Mary J. Blige, Missy, Will Smith, Ciara, Common, Jill Scott and Omarion, have travelled to witness Tye Tribbett & G.A.’s wonderful excitng gospel performances live.

The group got its proper debut after signing with Columbia Records/Sony Gospel and releasing the album Life on June 8, 2004. The album, produced by neo-soul mainstay James Poyser included such songs as "No Way" and "Everything". Life also included a rare turn from gospel jazz singer and labelmate Kim Burrell on "You Can Change".

For the follow-up to Life, Tribbett & G.A. recorded a live concert in December of 2005 at Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The group's live performances are famous for their lively costumes and high-energy choreography. As a testimony to their rising profile, several notable artists from both gospel and secular realms were in the audience including Donnie McClurkin, Hezekiah Walker, Damien Hall and Teddy Riley of Guy, Mary Mary, Brent Jones, and Warryn Campbell.^[1]

The December concert was released as album Victory Live! on May 23, 2006 on Columbia Records. In December of 2006, Victory Live! was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album. Its title track "Victory" was nominated as well both for Best Gospel Song and Best Gospel Performance.^[2]

The group has had many performances on the BET Awards, the NAACP Image Awards and the Stellar Awards. Also his birthday is on January 26.
