The University of Michigan Residence Halls Association (RHA) was founded in 1956. It is today the University of Michigan's 3rd largest student government by constituent size, placing behind MSA and LSA-SG. U-M's RHA is mainly a legislative body, passing resolutions in order to change student life in the Residence halls.

[edit] Overview
The University of Michigan RHA meets at 7:00 each Thursday in the Alice Lloyd Residence Hall dining room every week that school is in session, barring holiday or final exams. The assembly is made up of members from 14 of the University of Michigan's Residence Halls, comprising of 27 individual councils. Currently, there are 7 executive board members and 2 University Housing Advisors.
[edit] Services and Events
Each year Michigan RHA is responsible for hosting the Pre-class Bash, an event held during Welcome Week that serves as a large campus mixer, with a DJ, free food, prizes, and shirts. In addition to this, U-M RHA also hosts a Siblings Weekend during the Winter Semester, a Charity Ball, and finally, a Family Feud type event called ResHall Feud.
In addition to all of those events, U-M RHA usually donates money to sponsor the individual Halls on campus, as well as outside organizations in order to host programs around the University of Michigan campus.
The University of Michigan RHA provides a free RHA Movie Channel to students which provides movies to the students through the school's cable system

U-M's RHA is formally affiliated with the following organizations:
- MORHA, the Michigan Organization of Residence Halls Association
- GLACURH, the Great Lakes Association of College and University Residence Halls (Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Ontario)
- NACURH, the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (U.S.A., Canada, Mexico and Australia)
The University of Michigan recently re-affiliated with MORHA after a 3-year hiatus. U-M RHA has long been an active member of GLACURH, (and before that MACURH), as well as NACURH. The University of Michigan hosted the 2004 GLACURH business meeting, commonly referred to as 'No Frills'.
