Vasile Blaga

Vasile Blaga (b. July 26, 1956 in Petrileni, Bihor County) is a Romanian politician from the Democratic Party and the current Minister of Administration and Interior in the Popescu-Tăriceanu cabinet. He is married and has two children.

Blaga started his political career after the fall of Communism in Romania in 1989. He was a Member of Parliament in the Romanian Chamber of Deputies, representing the county of Bihor between 1990 and 1991, after which he became the Prefect of Bihor, serving until 1993. Between 1996 and 2000, he was a senator from the Democratic Party representing Bihor. In 2004, when the Justice and Truth Alliance government was formed, of which the Democratic Party is a member, Blaga was appointed as the Minister of Administration and Interior Affairs. He is also currently a Member of the Romanian Senate, representing Bucharest, where he presently resides.
