From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Việt Võ Đạo (越武道) is the philosophy behind many Vietnamese martial arts.
- Việt (越) to transcend or transcendence, derivative of the country name Vietnam.
- Võ (武) martial art
- Đạo (道) the way, the path one takes; the method or the principle
During and after the Vietnam war, many Vietnamese martial artists got scattered in a diaspora. The "Việt Võ Đạo Federation" was founded November 3rd, 1973 in order to re-unite some Vietnamese martial arts:
- Vovinam
- Qwan Ki Do (Quan Ky)
- Bach Hac (White Crane)
- Thang Long (Ascending Dragon)
Therefore "Việt Võ Đạo" is also used as a generic term for certain Vietnamese martial arts and philosophies.
In continuation Việt Võ Đạo becomes "Nhan Võ Đạo", the philosophy behind the martial art of all human beings.
