State Route 512 (SR-512) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Washington, originating at Interstate 5 in Lakewood, WA and ending in Puyallup, WA at State Route 167. A four lane freeway its entire length, SR-512 is heavily used for people to travel from the Tacoma area to Puyallup and the surrounding towns. The freeway originally ended at State Route 7 and then was expanded to Portland Avenue. Its final expansion included portions being built into the Puyallup Valley, through the town and all the way to SR-167. Traffic is very heavy during rush hour due to many people commuting to I-5 and SR-167 for work. Putting in HOV lanes has been mentioned many times in order to combat the heavy traffic.
