State Route 536, commonly known as SR-536, Highway 536, or the Mt. Vernon Cut-off, is a state highway in the U.S. state of Washington.
[edit] History
When the current State Route system came into effect in 1964, SR-536 was designated as the route from the Anacortes Ferry Terminal (to the San Juan Islands) to Mt. Vernon at I-5. In 1972, SR-20 was completed through the north Cascade range and SR-536 was truncated to its current route.
Prior to 1964, SR-536 had been part of the Anacortes Branch of PSH-1.
