White Carniola

White Carniola (Slovenian: Bela krajina; German: Weißkrain) is a traditional region in southeastern Slovenia on the border with Croatia. Major towns are Metlika, Črnomelj, and Semič and the principal river is the Kolpa. There are some lower hills and birch trees. It's a wine region with very good quality wines. Most famous wines are: Metliška črnina (red wine), Belokranjec (white wine) and Modra frankinja (red wine). Main river is (mostly border river) Kolpa.
