Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Rapid transit
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I am currently attempting to work on articles on the Munich U-Bahn system. To avoid any unneeded afterchanges I'd ask for your input in direction of naming guidelines for the U-Bahn stations and Navboxes. Agathoclea 07:18, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Project directory
Hello. The WikiProject Council has recently updated the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. This new directory includes a variety of categories and subcategories which will, with luck, potentially draw new members to the projects who are interested in those specific subjects. Please review the directory and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope that all the changes to the directory can be finished by the first of next month. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 23:20, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Haxo (Paris Métro)
Haxo (Paris Métro) - I have recently added this page and put it in the [[category:rapid transport stubs]], although I think the article is now a decent length considering the dearth of information there is on the topic, and probably warrants removal of its stub statuses - please advise, thanks. Superbfc 22:17, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- The article has a lot of info, so I went and removed the stub tags. Thanks for letting us know. -- Selmo (talk) 04:39, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Buses and bus systems?
Another editor added {{TrainsWikiProject}} to Talk:Double-decker bus. While I can easily see how buses fit in to a rapid transit topic, they don't really fit in with TWP. Is this project going to work on bus and bus system articles now too? It would seem logical to include them based on the scope statement here. If you are going to work on bus articles, perhaps it's time to develop a {{WP rapid transit}} (or some similar name) project banner so bus articles don't get classified into rail categories by {{TrainsWikiProject}}. Slambo (Speak) 12:36, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- I had subway and subway-like transit systems in mind while creating the project, but let's see what others have to say. I somewhat agree with the inclusion of bus-related articles though... -- Selmo (talk) 00:23, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- I've started on a possible banner for this project at User:Slambo/WP rapid transit. Right now, the only parameter implemented is small to display a small format of the banner. Adding other functionality, such as assessments, requires additional categories which are not set up yet (but they can be created quickly if you decide to use them). Slambo (Speak) 17:44, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Assessment categories created
Since the basic code was added to the new template for quality assessments, I finished the setup for the categories and the template. I've added the categories to {{TrainsWikiProject}} as well so it will categorize pages appropriately. Slambo (Speak) 18:31, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
Rapid transit articles: Index · Statistics · Log |
- The bot is now collecting statistics and populating lists appropriately for these assessments. Slambo (Speak) 16:44, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Project problem
Just to point out, this project may run into difficulties with other projects that focus on 1 or more rapid transit and associated systems, i think. Simply south 00:30, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
- I don't see how. Many projects, such as The TV WikiProject and the The Simpsons WikiProject don't seem to have any difficulties with each other. I don't know how this would cause difficulties with other system-specific projects. -- Selmo (talk) 01:34, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] London Underground
London Underground is up for a featured article review. Detailed concerns may be found here. Please leave your comments and help us address and maintain this article's featured quality. Sandy (Talk) 02:10, 30 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Yeouinaru Station
Thought this might be of interest here. A Seoul subway station, Yeouinaru Station, is up for deletion. As it's currently a stub, it does take time to write detail for so many stations in this project (I know, as being part of WikiProject Stations). --Oakshade 01:30, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Portal updates?
I haven't seen any significant activity on Portal:Rapid transit since October. Is there a project member here who can step up and maintain the portal more frequently? Slambo (Speak) 16:51, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
- I'm interested in working on it. I'm kinda busy doing other things though. -- Selmo (talk) 04:01, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jules Joffrin (Paris Métro)
A Paris Métro station, Jules Joffrin (Paris Métro), has been nominated for deletion. Please see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jules Joffrin (Paris Métro) for a discussion which may lead to the deletion of the article Jules Joffrin (Paris Métro). Another editor has proposed that Jules Joffrin (Paris Métro) be merged into Paris Métro, which I think would be unworkable. --Eastmain 04:23, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia Day Awards
Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 16:13, 30 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] MTR FAR
MTR has been nominated for a featured article review. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. Please leave your comments and help us to return the article to featured quality. If concerns are not addressed during the review period, articles are moved onto the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Remove" the article from featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. Reviewers' concerns are here. LuciferMorgan 02:59, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] WP Munich Transsportation Task Force
I'm trying to start a task force for WikiProject Munich that can deal with the U-Bahn, S-Bahn and so on for Munich. Is there anyone in this project willing to start up this task force? Kingjeff 16:18, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
