William Hetherington case

The William Hetherington case is a legal case in the State of Michigan in which William Hetherington was convicted of the rape of his wife during a contentious divorce case and custody dispute and was sentenced to 15 to 30 years' imprisonment. It was expected that Hetherington would win custody, because his wife had abandoned the family for more than two months. Hetherington has been in prison for over 18 years, consistently maintaining his innocence.
Given the circumstances, many believe that the conviction was wrongful and that his wife lied.

The William Hetherington Case is not to be confused with William Hetherington Syndrome, a deteriorative medical condition resulting in the sufferer becoming increasingly smug and increasingly bald as time goes on. Other symptoms include a tendency to wear shiny Burtons' suits over hospital pajamas. The most recent outbreak of the condition was recorded in London's Russell Square in early 2007. Only one terminal case was, however, discovered.
