Winstanley College

Winstanley College is a sixth form college situated on Winstanley Road, Winstanley, Metropolitan Borough of Wigan, Greater Manchester . In the academic year 2005-2006 it had 1,749 full time students.
Current Principal of Winstanley College is Steve Wood with Mel Chadwick Vice-Principal. Steve Wood recently celebrated twenty years service at Winstanley College.
The catchments area spreads across the Wigan, Leigh, Bolton and St Helens areas.
Alumni of the College include several members of Group The Verve.
A portal to higher education, Winstanley college is one of the top 50 colleges in the UK in most A-level rankings (most notable 22nd in the Guardian's country-wide collation of A-Level results in 2006). Students go on to universities such as Oxford, Cambridge, Salford, Edinburgh, Keele and St. Andrews
Winstanley College's Student Television Project has also featured on Sky News's Green Britain Week.
The College has undergone a major re-development; including the building of a part student-designed English and Politics building, and Head of Politics E.M.Mulroy has received an award for the top teacher of Politics within the England and Wales.
Points of interest when visiting the college include:
