World News Today
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
World News Today is an analytical news programme shown in two daily editions on BBC World, the BBC's international news and current affairs television channel.
World News Today launched on 3 July, 2006, aiming to appeal to the breakfast audience in the United States where BBC World had recently launched on cable.
The earlier programme, shown at 1200 GMT, is presented by George Alagiah, also presenter of domestic early evening news programme the Six O'Clock News with Natasha Kaplinsky. An edition of World Business Report is also included, as the programme follows a similar style to that of The World Today, shown earlier in the daily schedule.
A second daily edition of the programme presented by Nik Gowing began broadcasting on 18 September 2006, showing at 2200 CET followed by an edition of Sport Today.
