Shouldn't this page be listed under "Yotsubato!" or "Yotsuba&!", as one is the normally used (and accepted, and offical) translation of the title and the other is what it is liscenced under. They're both undoubtedly more well known than "Yotsuba To!"--195.92.168.175 01:11, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

I think the title makes sense as it is (a sort of a compromise between a full translation and the original title), but I doubt it'd be a big deal to switch it around. The title makes sense, but it still isn't really right. It should be either the generally accepted title and translation (Yotsubato!, 5310 Google Hits as opposed to Yotsuba To!, 3110 Google Hits) or the official title Yotsuba&!.--Oppolo 22:28, 30 August 2005 (UTC)

Translation of title, how it is being published as and what it is liscenced under. Alternatively, Yotsubato! should be used (as this is the official version and how the manga origonal title is "most commonly known", note that Yotsubato! has more google hits than Yotsuba To!- almost twice as many). This article has been renamed after the result of a move request. I have moved this to Yotsubato! as the naming conventions discourage the use of unusual symbols, like "&", in article titles and most of the comments here seem to regard Yotsubato! as an equally acceptable alternative. I wonder if it would be possible to somewhat redo this article into more of a series profile now that more of it has been released in English. I would like to add more details on the characters in partciular, particularly the Ayase sisters, Jumbo and Koiwai-san. A note about the Jumbo/Asagi dynamic would be especially useful to this article, as well as Fuuka's strange symbiotic relationship with the Koiwai family. Michael Hopcroft

The article says that the manga was released in America starting in 2005 but a search of the ADV Manga site [[1]] returns no such results. What gives? Xyzyxx 15:49, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

ADV Manga doesn't update their site too much. If ever. And if they did, they apparently still haven't added Yotsuba&! to their list. Anyway, it has been released by ADV, look it up in Amazon [2] for more information. --TcDohl 23:30, 12 January 2006 (UTC)

I have heard some interesting fan speculation about Ysotuba-chan's origins which, although it is not nealry firm enough to consider mentioning in the main article, I shall file away for future reference. Hopefully we can find the sort of up-front compromise that will prevent the hassles that have surrounded the Azumanga Daioh article's treatment of similar questions.Michael Hopcroft 03:40, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

As if it honestly DOES matter xD I LOVE Yotsuba&! It is the most awesome manga EVER and I LOVE Yotsuba; if I EVER get stuck with a kid, I swear to GOD it better be a girl, and she better be like Yotsuba!! xD AISHITERU YOSTUBATO!

"Yotsuba&! fans may have noticed that their have been a lack of volumes of 4 and 5 in North America. Rumors go on saying the manga division of ADV (the American distrubutor of Yotsuba&!) was shut down. This information is false. When given a call to ADV Manga, staff will answer your call. One caller gave a question about Yotsuba's remaning time in America. The represenative's response was due to the fact that ADV Manga is still undergoing major translations for other well-known manga (ex. Chrono Crusade). The same represenative also stated that once finished with other books, they will work on more 'episodic' works (including Yotsuba&!). Yotsuba&! is still ongoing, even in North America, however there is no exact date to where we see the 4th volume of Yotsuba&!." --Elk 07:32, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

My personal feeling is that this could be cleaned up and reinserted if the assertions are toned down significantly, and the whole passage is given a more neutral, third-person perspective. For example:

"A sizable number of Yotsuba&! fans in North America has noticed that volumes 4 and 5 of the series have yet to be published in English, even though volume 3 was released in English in October 2005, and the fourth volume was already available in Japan by that time. Rumors have included speculation that Yotsuba&!, similar to a number of other ADV Manga titles, may have been put on "permanent hold." An ADV manga representative countered this claim, suggesting instead that due to a number of high-profile licenses, more "episodic" works (including Yotsuba&!) were currently on the backburner, but would resume at a later date. Exactly when this might be, however, is currently unknown."

I've run through and changed Fuka to Fuuka where appropriate (as it is closest to the original Japanese), and added an explanation to her character profile. I suggest that we try and stick to the Fuuka spelling to avoid confusion. Of course the counter argument is that Fuka is what's in the American release which most will see, whatever. Pulling up the Manual of Style (Japanese Names) seems as if we're supposed to use the official English name where possible, and only use macrons when all other options are exhausted. Which would make Fuka the preferred spelling, as that's what is in the official English translation of the manga. Omnisentry 01:03, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

So I went and did it. "Fuuka" is now "Fuka". Her individual page, Fuuka Ayase, is still with two Us until we decide to move it or not. I whacked a redirect from Fuka Ayase for the moment anyway. - Omnisentry 05:41, 6 February 2007 (UTC)

Are we sure that this belongs under seinen? Yotsubato! hardly fits under that category, considering seinen is targeted towards young adults, and Yotsubato! is about the life of a little girl.

At the same time, it's serialized in Dengeki Daioh, a magazine aimed squarely at that demographic, and while its plot and character designs are neither violent nor sexualized, the point has been raised that in many ways, Yotsuba&! is about nostalgia. So although it might not feature what are typically considered the hallmarks of "traditional" seinen manga, it seems nevertheless to fit the bill. (Also, try and keep separate the notions of "demographic" and "genre." Just because it doesn't fit the same genre as certain other manga doesn't mean it isn't targeted at the same demographic.) --Julian Grybowski 20:48, 17 September 2006 (UTC)

The cameos in the triva section at the moment are unverified and tenuous at best. I'm not confident enough about how wikipedia works to just yank them, but something needs to be done. As Julian pointed out with the comments, the 'Elder Gaijin' need clarification, I dont recognise any of the four people that see Fuuka and Yotsuba with the flowers. And the 'Guy with short hair and glasses that might be Azuma' is so vague and disconnnected that I don't even think that it's the same person in both appearences let alone supposed to represent someone special. If you can verify or source something that'd be great. Omnisentry 02:39, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

I removed "Elder Gaijin", "Guy with short hair and glasses", and "Yotsuba wears shirts". "Yotsuba wears plain shirts with colored sleeves" isn't trivia, and we never heard back on the other two guys, the Elder Gaijin which may not exist, and the guy with short hair and glasses who has nothing special about him that would rate a mention. It is in spanish. In the yotsuba article there is a link to an english page. The page is very well designed, but it doesnt contain too much more information than my own page.
