- Many have compared the main guitar riff to be a "rip off" of Metallica's "Bad Seed," despite that it is actually in the key of E, whereas "Bad Seed" is in the key of Db.
The wording of this seemed a little strange to me. I got curious when I read this, so I downloaded "Bad Seed". The riffs are actually indentical, aside from the key. From a musical point of view, though, the key being different is nearly insignificant when differentiating chord progressions / note progressions / melodies / etc. The way this is worded, it seems like I could change the key of "Hotel California", pass it off as my own song, and then when people asked about the similarities I could just tell that they haven't considered that the keys are different. -- Matty j 04:24, 18 September 2006 (UTC)
