The International Children's Games or ICG as it is commonly referred to is an International Olympic Committee-sanctioned event held every year where children from cities around the world and between the ages of 12 and 15 particpate in a variety of sports.

The Slovenian sports instructor Metod Klemenche founded the International Children's Games in 1968 with the aim to promote peace and friendship through sports to the world's youth. He organised the first International Children's Games and Cultural Festival in 1968 with the participation of teams from nine European cities.

Since that time, 27,000 children aged 12 to 15 have participated, representing nearly 200 cities and 50 countries. The International Children's Games and Cultural Festival has become the world's largest international multi-sport youth games, and is a recognised member of the International Olympic Committee.

在泰國曼谷舉行的賽事中共有37國、82個城市參賽，兩千一百多名選手報名，競爭激烈。大會團體成績排名，第一名曼谷，第二名北京，第三名首爾，第五名臺北。

其中在2006年 8月26日游泳池畔的頒獎典禮上，台北隊陳儀柔(獲得50公尺自由式金牌)、劉士瑋(獲得50公尺蛙式金牌)在贏得游泳金牌上台領獎時，北京代表隊隊員先後強行搶走在觀眾席和台北市教育局人員手中的青天白日滿地紅旗，接著陳儀柔與劉士瑋身披青天白日滿地紅旗准備上台領獎時，又被人搶走旗幟，雙方因此爆發口角衝突。而事後，大會也決定，未來任何城市選手在頒獎禮上都不得攜帶旗幟。
