[edit] Boundaries
The constituency is based around the town of Gosport, which is on the south coast of England, in Hampshire. It contains the whole of Gosport Borough including Lee-on-the-Solent. Stubbington from the neighbouring Fareham Borough is also part of the constituency.
[edit] History
Gosport constituency was created in 1974. The area had previously been part of the constituency of Fareham and Gosport.
It is a safe Conservative seat, though it has some stark social divisions; the large council estate of Rowner, for example, is not just only one of the most deprived wards in the South East but in fact the UK as a whole, but there are plenty of prosperous Tory areas here to keep it in their camp.
