[edit] Background
Following the success of their single "Love Don't Go Through No Changes on Me" in 1974, Sister Sledge had failed to have a another major hit on U.S. R&B charts. The group had considered retiring from the music industry until Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards, members of the disco band Chic, offered to work with the group. Rodgers and Edwards composed the song while recording the Chic album C'est CHIC in New York City.
