Never Give Up On The Good Times was supposed to be released by the Spice Girls, as a Disco single from their second album, Spiceworld. This single was meant to be a double-A side single, "Never Give Up On The Good Times/Viva Forever" - to be released in mid-late May 1998, but due to Geri Halliwell's departure from the band, and her vocal in "Never Give Up..." it was decided that just Viva Forever would be released.
[edit] Original Plans
May 1998 would be one of the defining moments in the collective career of the Spice Girls, and it is a month that is still mentioned to this day, in relation to the group. On 31st May 1998, Geri Halliwell left the Spice Girls. Plans were changed, scrapped, and added to. One of these plans was the forthcoming single, a double-A side of "Never Give Up On The Good Times" and "Viva Forever", which would be the last single to be taken from Spiceworld.
A short time after Stop was released, speculation grew as to what the next Spice Girls single would be. In late March, the single was finally revealed as "Never Give Up On The Good Times/Viva Forever".
[edit] Music video
Smash Hits' famous "Bandwatch" section provided a close watch on the status of the single, and the first piece of news it gave us was that one of the songs was to have a cartoon-based music video. It happened that "Viva Forever" would have the cartoon-themed video.
