Rumour has it - before he saw the light (which one it was, or was it the switch) our mate moon had 3 or 4, I've only got 2 and a half at the moment. the main thing is to realise how many you have or feel compelled to check/read/watch... it can be nothing short of hysteria if you accidently keep some user pages on yr wtchlist - some of my obscure arts never show up - it can depend on what you have on yr list. oh well. Don't ever start me on reality. At my age the memory of heisenberg's improbablility theorem printed on the front of tee shirts at uni - and the vast store of what become boring jokes from the late douglas adams about probability and improbability leave any sense of what reality could be enough to start the most boring blog in the universe - better than vogon poetry! Hey - its like finding a mallee fowl nest for the first time - there's no welcome, there's no post from an irate editor about sandboxes, there's just the steady clogging the bandwidth and server space - its a gem - maybe some sort of throttled turkey award - or little yellow duck (viz dont bite the newbies principles) that hasnt found its sandbox yet? I don't think there's a limit. I regularly clean mine out, and I still have 4000 at the moment. Moondyne had over 10,000 before he wiped it and started again. Hesperian 00:34, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

It has its benefits and its drawbacks. On the one hand, nothing escapes my watchlist - yes, I have Port Hedland on there - but on the other hand, you find yourself not even bothering to look at most edits; unless the article is a high priority, you rely on user names / edit summaries / instinct to tell you what edits to check out and what to let slide.

In the Great Eastern Highway article, you state that Meadow Street is signed as State Route 51, not State Route 52. The latter is true, however. If you don't believe me, take a drive out there; after all, I live in the northern foothills, and know all about the roads in the Guildford-Midland area.--M W Johnson 12:57, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi,

I see that you're replacing the old template "BrisSuburbBox" with the new infobox. Thanks for doing this! However, I have started a discussion on WP:AWNB#Median_property_prices_in_Brisbane_suburb_articles that might interest you, concerning the "Property Value" field that you're including in all of them. I thought that as you were one of the ones doing a lot of the work, that it might be of particular interest to you.

I am hoping to catch up with gn soon to compare notes on a ver large number of jpegs - they might or might not direct a Perth CBD photo set - or not. Getting so caught up in the maritime hist project (did I tell you) and bits of indonesia and general scattered loose head stuff that - no there seemed to be a general seized moment like all other 1,432 threads that I have had the pleasure of inflicting upon others  :) - I mean my watch lists is closwly creeping to 3,000 and my edit - well I havent even found a working counter - probably 99.98 percent talk page or something like that. That's be fantastic OIC. If possible from the estuary end towards the ocean, particularly taking in the bridge (and if you can get it into the frame, the ocean entrance). Also from the bridge looking down towards the opening into the ocean. And, if possible, the sandtrap on the south groyne (there's some machinery and a small groyne which runs perpendicular to the main south groyne which catches the sand drift coming from the south. I was thinking of making a wikimedia extention, like ParserFunctions, say called ParserCode that would provide a complete programming language within the page.

Got your template working, although differently to how you had it. The master IF is clearer now, the top half is the short version, the bottom the long version. Currently the short version is creating a new table for each row, but you could change that behavior, by removing the {{{!}} class="wikitable" style="margin: 2px;" and replacing it with a {{!}}-, and also changing the line {{!}}} | {{{!}} class="prettytable" to | {{{!}} class="prettytable". You would probably want to move that line to the last line so there is no bad whitespace. --TheJosh 12:40, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't think you should be tagging places out of WP:AUSPLACES when you tag them into WP:WA. I think of it as akin to the category system: Until we have [[Category:Places of Western Australia]], we categorise articles into both [[Category:Places of Australia]] and [[Category:Western Australia]]. In the same way, until/unless someone creates WikiProject Western Australian places, articles like Barrow Island (Western Australia) should be tagged into both WikiProject Australian places and WikiProject Western Australia.

The other way to look at it is that this article still comes within WP:AUSPLACES defined sphere of interest. There's no OWNership of articles here, so we can declare an interest in an article but we can't tell another WikiProject to lose interest.

[edit] History of telephone systems in Australia

Where would I be able to get information on this? I've always been fascinated by how telephone systems work and especially the way telephone numbers are allocated. The only way I'd be able to access books is by scanning them but the scanning program I use can handle most texts as long as they're not handwritten. Do you have any material in digital form on this? I grabbed the Western Australian list of phone number prefixes that used to be here at the ACA ebsite but that's the only material I have. Graham87 11:40, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi, I've looked on Auspost, Australian Gazetteer and in the Melway but can only see one Gardenvale (3185) - 3187 is the postcode for its neighbour to the south, Brighton East. On searching Google I get 2 matches (with 37 duplicates) of two federal awards with addresses in Gardenvale 3187 which are clearly in the 3185 one (Perfect Blinds and Stripwood Antiques, 113 and 131 Gardenvale Road). My 1998 UBD suggests Gardenvale was at that time an ungazetted locality split along Gardenvale Road between Elsternwick (3185) and Brighton East (3187) - this may explain the odd distinction. There's no rush. Do your reading, if you haven't already. Make sure you're familiar with the RFA process. Get your edit summary usage up to 100%, if it's not already - it looks pretty darn close to it. Have a look at why some nominations have been opposed e.g. Gnangarra's was opposed by one editor because of a perception of minimal involvement in the AFD process. Have a think about how you would answer the RFA questions. I'll have a think about, and talk to others about, phrasing a nomination. Let me know when you're ready. Everyone seems to agree that you would make a good administrator, but there are a few doubts about whether you would have an easy ride through the RfA process if we go for it now. The mad tagging today has eventuated in the ultimate - it was Purwodadi Grobogan (or somethink like that) intro sentence with about three links - then a huge article and not one done. V frustrating - it really intimidates my sense of links and possible links being ignored. As for the sad sad item - either afd or redirect or - we need to populate from the talk pages where we have hasshed the bloodyt subject for what feels at least a year. I agree with you in general, but...

1. Blocking isn't punishment, so issues of double jeapordy don't exactly apply. In the event of continued misdeeds, looking at past blocks provides insights into whether continued patience is likely to be rewarded.
2. I mislike the differentiation between administrators and non-admins that some users are so fond of making. I wish you wouldn't encourage it.

When I was writing Yagan, I came across a passing reference to a "T. J. Pettigrew". No reason to believe there's a story there, and I almost didn't bother looking into it. Yep - south, east, west and southwest respectively - with the north being Station St, Smith St and Dandenong Road, putting Caulfield train station and Monash Uni Caulfield Campus (on Dandenong Road) within the boundaries (Monash's website [1] appears to confirm this interpretation).
