Soroud-e Melli

"Soroud-e-Melli" (Persian for "National Anthem") is the national anthem of Afghanistan. It was adopted in 2006, and was officially announced in May, 2006. The Afghan National Anthem must be sung in the Pashto language, and according to the Constitution of Afghanistan, it also has to include the words "Allah o Akbar" (God is Great) as well as the names of the largest ethnic and tribal groups of the country. The lyrics were written by Abdul Bari Jahani and the music was written by Babrak Wassa.
