Jermaine "Mayne" Jackson, Andrew "Dru Brett" Harr |
The Runners (born in Orlando, Florida) are a team of hip hop producers, consisting of Andrew "Dru Brett" Harr and Jermaine "Mayne" Jackson. They came together to form the team in 2000, but they have known each other since they were in kindergarten. They are best known for producing the hit single "Hustlin'", by rapper Rick Ross. They have also produced songs for artists like Fat Joe, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones and Lil Wayne. They are currently working on songs for Jadakiss, T.I., Young Jeezy, Trey Songz, Christina Milian and Mariah Carey[1].
A trademark of their production style so far has been to sample slowed-down, repeated vocals for a song's hook. The chorus to Rick Ross's "Hustlin'" includes the lines "Everyday I'm hustlin'" and "Real hard" repeated several times, and the chorus to Jim Jones's "Reppin' Time" includes "When it's reppin' time" and "Dip-Dip-Dipset" repeated in the same manner. They also include a bass pattern followed by the sound of "AHHH" like something refreshing. It is predominantly heard at the beginning of every song they produce. Other examples of repeating vocals on a songs hook are on the song "Go Getta" by Young Jeezy featuring R.Kelly (This may not be a reliable example, though, as it is R. Kelly singing the vocals himself, and not the production machines)
The starting charging rate per song is $10,000.
