U.S. Route 522 is a spur of U.S. Highway 22. It runs for 308 miles (496 km) from Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania, at U.S. Highways 11 and 15 to Powhatan, Virginia, at U.S. Highway 60. It passes through the states of Pennsylvania, Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia.

U.S. 522 has the shortest stay of any US highway within the state (2.37 miles). It serves the Fort Tonoloway State Park, near the town of Hancock, Maryland. It connects to the following roads [2]:
