Ernest Miller Hemingway idazle eta kazetaria 1899ko uztailaren 21ean jaio zen Oak Park-en (Illinois).
XX. mendeko literaturaren egilerik garrantzitsuenetarikoa da, 1953an Pulitzer Saria lortuz ("The Old Man and the Sea") eta Literaturako Nobel Saria 1954an. "Papa" ezizena jaso zuen. "For Whom the Bell Tolls" ("Norengatik jotzen du ezkilak") bere lanik ezagunena da.
Geure artean famatua da San Fermin jaiak mundu mailan ezagutarazteagatik. Espainiako Gerra Zibilean ere ibili zen, kazetari.
1961eko uztailaren 2an bere buruaz beste egin zuen, Ketchum-en (Idaho).
