General
- BJ & Tyler were the first team to win the race and finish first in the final elimination leg. BJ & Tyler are also the first team to win the final three legs of the race.
- BJ & Tyler are the second team to ever win three consecutive legs. The first team to do it was Colin & Christie in Season 5.
- BJ & Tyler are the only team to have finished last in two non-elimination legs after the rule change in Season 5, where last-placed teams must forfeit all of their money. Similarily, they are only the second team to win the race after finishing last, post-rule change; the first team to accomplish the same feat was Uchenna & Joyce (Season 7).
[编辑] Pre-Race
- The Amazing Race isn't Tyler's only travelling claim to fame. In 2004, he walked the whole length of Japan to impress his Japanese girlfriend as well as make a documentary about the experience called Kintaro Walks Japan. By the end of the trip, he was often running into many locals who already knew him as "Kintaro" from the TV news.
[编辑] In-Race
- The first leg's pit stop was inside Estádio Municipal Paulo Machado de Carvalho, but teams began the second leg outside the stadium.
- The second leg's pit stop lasted an extended 36 hours.
- The third leg is double-length, broadcast over episodes 3 and 4. This is the earliest a double leg has appeared and was the first to include international travel over the middle portion.
- When BJ and Tyler offered Phil a dollar in Moscow, they told him "don't waste that opportunity." This was likely a reference to Phil's Discovery Channel show and book, No Opportunity Wasted.
- As in season 7, the second part of Leg 3 had a task which involved finding a Travelocity roaming gnome. However for this season, there appeared to be no potential reward for carrying it to the Pit Stop, though teams were specifically instructed to do so.
- On Leg 4, Danielle & Dani became the first team to be both Yielded and eliminated in the same leg of the race. However, it was not the Yield that first-handedly eliminated them, the hourglass stopped before Ray and Yolanda actually overtook them, but Dani struggled at the Roadblock and they were eliminated.
- In an interview, Danielle & Dani said that the Yield was about 30 minutes long and they arrived at the Pit Stop only a few minutes after Ray and Yolanda.
- On Leg 4, BJ and Tyler wore "Bowling Mom" t-shirts, in homage to Linda and Karen in Season 5.
- On Leg 7, Fran & Barry became the oldest couple at the age of 61 & 63 to win a leg, beating out Teri & Ian who were 49 & 50 respectively in Season 3.
- The Leg 7 Pit Stop lasted 24 hours, rather than the usual 12 hours or 36 hours. This situation may have been due to the fact that the show's producers didn't want racers cluttering up the airport waiting 12 hours for the only direct flight to Perth, Australia via Dubai.
- Since the introduction of the non-elimination penalties in Season 5, BJ & Tyler are the first team in Race history to receive the penalty twice. BJ & Tyler also became the first team to use the Yield and come in last on the same leg.
- In Leg 8, Eric and Jeremy questioned the intelligence of BJ & Tyler's choice of Roadblocks by saying that they thought "they were supposed to be smart; didn't they go to Harvard and Stanford?" BJ did graduate from Harvard, but Tyler went to the University of California at Santa Cruz. Eric and Jeremy's comment is quite revealing though, since Tyler achieved some media attention in 1999 for his failed political-style "campaign" to be admitted to Stanford They'll Try Anything - Stanford Alumni Magazine. It is somewhat surprising that Eric and Jeremy could have learned about Tyler's connection to Stanford without remembering and relishing that Tyler was not admitted.
- Eric cancelled taxi reservations for Ray/Yolanda and BJ/Tyler early in Leg 9 but the team received no penalty. Joseph was standing with Jeremy as Eric called to cancel and said "That'll give us a good headstart," leading some viewers to speculate that he was involved. Eric & Jeremy later stated that they almost were given a penalty for the incident, but since everyone got a taxi anyway and Eric & Jeremy got on a taxi last, it was not assessed.
- In The Roadblock of Leg 9, one camera was dropped off of the plane with each racer and another was tied to the parachute.
- Leg 10 marked the third visit (after seasons 1 and 2) to Bangkok, the only foreign city thus far to be visited that many times.
- The Pit Stop for Leg 11 was aboard a swan boat on Lake Yamanaka but Leg 12 started from the dock on-shore.
- Leg 11 was a 36 hour Pit Stop. During their time at the Pit Stop, teams were able to go on rides at the amusement park they had just visited.
- On Leg 12, Eric and Jeremy were seen getting in a taxi at Hillside Park in Anchorage, Alaska when the task was completed at Kincaid Park, on the other side of the city.
- This is the first edition of the race to finish exactly where it started.
- Clues for this season contained the national flags of the countries visited; teams were eventually required to arrange these flags for the final Roadblock.
- When Phil introduced the final Roadblock, he was standing between the flags of Canada and Antigua when he was speaking. Canada and Antigua were two countries where Phil spent a portion of his life in. In a second scene of Phil at the Roadblock, he was standing in front of the New Zealand flag, an obvious homage to his native country.
[编辑] Post-Race
- Eric/Jeremy and BJ/Tyler have continued to socialize since the end of the Race.
- Ray proposed to Yolanda on the CBS Early Show on the morning after the season finale. While it was a total shock to her, Yolanda enthusiastically accepted.
- On the Finish Line post show on the official Amazing Race website, Eric announced that he was dating Danielle. He is moving to New York to be closer to her.
- Due to scheduling conflicts with the season finale and the premiere of the film adaption of The Da Vinci Code, Eric & Jeremy stated that they were unable to attend the premiere of the movie at the Cannes Film Festival, which was their prize for gaining first place on Leg 6. Eric & Jeremy later stated that CBS is going to give them a different prize to make up for it.

The Detour for this half of the leg, Scour It or Scrub It, had teams search for 10 clues among 1500 Russian nesting dolls, or thoroughly clean a Russian public trolley bus, respectively. The Roadblock from the second half of the leg required one racer to find a Travelocity gnome hidden under giant gnome hats and feet in a field for their next clue. The Detour for the second half of the leg, Break It or Slap It, required teams either to break "stunt bottles" over each others' heads in search of a message printed on the back of the label or learn and perform a local folk dance.

In Herculean Effort, teams had to compete in three ancient Olympic events (discus throw, javelin throw and wrestling). In It's All Greek To Me, teams had to find nine artifacts with Greek letters, translate them to English letters and unscramble them to form the name of a location on a Greek map. In Watchtower, teams had to search among three towers for scrolls encased in silver. After they found a scroll, they had to deliver it to a silversmith. The Roadblock was to dig any of 117 sand dunes to find one of 6 shuwas, Omani underground ovens. Inside it was a woven pouch with a meal of lamb, which they would have for dinner.

In Sand, teams had to drag 40 branches 126 yards to a marked sand dune, an activity known as "brushing the beach," which helps prevent erosion. In Sea, teams searched among 50 underwater crayfish traps for those with live Western rock lobsters; each team member had to retrieve one rock lobster (commonly called crayfish, but they are actually lobsters). This leg's Roadblock involved searching a section of Fremantle Prison for a flashlight and batteries, then searching a network of underground wet and dry tunnels for a clue.

At the airstrip was the second of two Yields in the race. BJ & Tyler yielded Joseph & Monica, leaving them in last place until the Detour. The Roadblock for this leg of the race saw one member of each team doing a tandem skydive. This leg's Detour offered teams the choice of Wet or Dry. In Wet, teams drove six miles to a roadside park, then hiked and swam one mile down a river infested with "spiders and poisonous plants" to receive their next clue. In Dry, teams drove six miles on-road, then six miles off-road to a rock formation known as The Lost City and selected a didgeridoo. They then had to find an Aboriginal musician with a matching didgeridoo and each team member had to play a note to receive the next clue.

- Lopburi (Prang Sam Yot)
- Ko Kret Island (Buddha Garden)
- Bangkok (Marble Temple)
The Fast Forward on this leg was to eat fried crickets and grasshoppers. The Roadblock required one team member to make a ceremonial feast for monkeys and give it to them. The Detour was Move It or Altar It. In Move It, teams had to transport 72 pots from a pottery shop to a docked boat by balancing them on a board. Altar It required teams to assemble a shrine, including gold leafing a small Buddha statue for the shrine.

The Detour was Maiden or Messenger. In Maiden, teams had to transport a young Japanese woman in a traditional Japanese palanquin for 1/3 mile to a tea ceremony pavilion. In Messenger, each person had to construct a foldable bicycle, ride their bikes through the streets of Tokyo, and deliver packages to two separate office buildings. The Roadblock required one team member to ride on three extreme rides in the Fujikyu Highland Amusement Park in the following order: The Pizza, Dodonpa, and Fujiyama. While riding the rides, they had to look for a man holding a sign. Upon completion of their third ride, they had to tell the park manager what was written on the sign to receive their next clue. If they didn't see the sign they would have to go on all three rides again.

- Anchorage, Alaska (Anchorage International Airport) to Denver, Colorado (Denver International Airport)
- Golden (Clear Creek History Park)
- Denver (Red Rocks) (Finish Line)
In the Detour teams had to choose between Drill It and Deliver It. In Drill It, teams had to drill 10 holes in the ice, push an ice fishing shack to their holes and properly position the shack over at least two of the holes. In Deliver It, teams had to load a bush plane with medical supplies, fly with a pilot over 75 miles to deliver the supplies and fly back. Due to poor flying conditions, Deliver It was subject to an indefinite delay. All teams, by default, decided to Drill It. The Roadblock required one team member to retrieve a flag for each destination country they traveled to during the race, other than the United States, and place the flags in the order which they visited each country. The other team member was allowed to assist but not physically participate. Teams had a reference board with the flags of each destination country and three incorrect flags. After finishing the Roadblock, teams were allowed to run to the finish line.
