[edit] History
The band formed in Escatawpa, Mississippi as a trio, consisting of vocalist and drummer Brad Arnold, bassist Todd Harrell and guitarist Matt Roberts.[1]
3 Doors Down are also known to support other local South Mississippi bands, most notably the band Bad Charism whom they have frequently let open for them prior to shows in the Southeast.
[edit] Members
Brad Arnold is the vocalist for the band and played the drums on the studio recording of their album The Better Life. He started singing full time for the band after a gig where no one else would sing except him and he found he enjoyed it.[2]
Greg Upchurch formerly of Puddle of Mudd, is the drummer who replaced Daniel Adair in 2005. Adair joined Nickelback (known to tour with 3 Doors Down) to contribute to All The Right Reasons and remains with Nickelback.
Matt Roberts is the lead guitarist and Chris Henderson is the rhythm guitarist. Todd Harrell plays bass.
Josh Freese contributed drums for the band's second studio album, Away From the Sun. Daniel Adair was the drummer on Seventeen Days and 3 Doors Down's Live album, Another 700 Miles.
In 2005 the band released a "live" DVD titled Away From The Sun "LIVE" From Houston, Texas. The DVD was produced and directed by Academy Award nominated Alex Gibney (Enron: The Smartest guys In The Room) and Doug Biro. It was released by Monster Music in 2005.
Chris Henderson was scheduled to produce Five.Bolt.Main's next album, but the band broke up before they could make the album due to the lead singer re-joining his former band Flaw.
